Acoustic Wall Treatment
Autex Quietspace Panels and Autex Quietspace Fabric
Solartex Insulation Solutions was approached to provide some acoustic insulation advice and solutions to combat the noise problem from adjacent corridor  traffic and adjoining pump and airconditioning rooms.
The insulation requirements for the airconditioning facility and the pump room were primarily to stop airborne noise and vibration. Heavy duty lined flexible membrane material was used to line the block masonry walls and void fills were inserted to fill out the sections where windows and thinner wall sections adjoined the walls.
The office and laboratory walls were lined with Autex Quietspace panels (50mm) and Quietspace fabric (12mm).  From the extensive colour range a suitable colour was chosen to blend in with the surrounds and also to make features of some sections.
The added feature of the acoustic panels was that the panels doubled up as pinboards for the office and laboratory.
The solid entry doors were also lined on both sides with 12mm fabric to increase the acoustic barrier.
The results were pleasing and reduced the corridor traffic noise to barely audible and the airconditioning pump room noise was eliminated altogether.
